What I bring
2D Animating
-
Created a 4-minute 2d animated film “Georgia and the Sword of Schtubb’n” as part of my university final project, with lively and expressive character animation as my strongest focus for the film.
-
An intuitive understanding of the 12 animation principles and a consistent quality of style
-
A dedication to quality while still keeping mind of deadlines. I came into university every day during the production of my final film and was able to maintain an output of roughly 4 shots a week for the duration.
Adept
-
A capable and attentive learner. Before beginning my animation course, I had never touched an animation software before, but in my first year was able to take on TvPaint like a fish to water. Can quickly grasp the layout of new software and transfer my skills between them.
-
A receptive listener who can follow instructions and fulfil them to the letter. Can adapt my style of design and animation to fit any specifications required and follow procedures set.
Communication
-
Eager to discuss and talk in a team, always keeping others updated on progress and not afraid to ask questions or take help when facing a roadblock. I always find that conferring with others on a task and talking out what I’m doing is immense help in thinking through a problem and will take feedback readily and without issue.
-
Personable and friendly, able to get along well in any sized team and give support to others when needed.
-
Can take charge and be trusted to carry my weight. During our Live Brief group project in second year, I worked with fellow students to create an informative animated video for a client, taking charge of the team, organising roles and produce a storyboard that we would then go on to animate ourselves, as well as personally managing the editing of the video in Premier Pro.
Planning
-
Organised my schedule ahead of my final project and arranged which shots would take priority and which could be approached later or allocated.
-
Can keep patient and calm while working under a deadline, not allowing panic to disrupt my work.
-
Can keep my computer files and folders tidy and easy to navigate, following naming procedures.
Outside of my coursework I have taken part in artistic opportunities, collaborating with others to take part in the “48 Hour Animation Challenge”, set up by Quickdraw. Using the prompt ‘shrink’, we produced and submitted a short animation that was featured in their official livestream.
I have had the privilege to attend multiple workshops, such a weekend blender tutorial that taught me the basics for building and designing a 3d object as well as getting us accustomed to the plethora of shortcuts and tools in the program.
I also attend life drawing sessions every Wednesday, which have elevated my drawing skills and given me a deeper understanding of human anatomy and how to capture/convey a pose. I have even been lucky enough to attend a tutorial hosted by Joanna Quinn, a well-known figure in the industry and a seriously talented animator.
